As we do our interview articles, it is important to note that hobbies change as peoples lives change.  Not everyone will stay in the hobby.  As people come, others will go, but everyone is still important.  This gives us a great opportunity to talk to a collector who is on to other things in his life and how he spent his time with us.

Scott Henshaw: Lets start with this. My name is Scott Henshaw (Ghost Rider to some) and I live in Sejlflod Denmark, a small community outside of Aalborg, in Northern Jutland. We moved here in 2003 with my Danish Wife and our then 3 year old Daughter. I was born in Montreal, spent some time in Brantford Ontario, 3 years in Calgary and 25 in Vancouver.

My initial goal was to collect the top 200 PIM guys of all time, I think I got 40 or 50, then time and money ran out.

Collector Interview: Ryan Moen

image_1511I usually try to spread out our collector interviews a bit, but we have had a bunch of great sessions this summer and I felt it would be best to get them shared so during the season, we can talk collecting and hockey with collectors we now know a little bit more about.  Ryan Moen is no exception, he is definitely a collector you will want to get to know.

Scott is a great collector and also plays hockey, like many collectors do.  He is an avid Ohio State fan so it was not uncommon that our paths crossed when I picked up an Ohio State jersey.

Scott Himowitz: I work for Verizon Wireless in HQ doing personalization marketing. My team touches the web site daily to tailor campaigns towards various customer segments usually identified through market research. Sometimes the work I do is widely seen on the Verizon Wireless web page, other times it’s seen by a certain segment and may be indistinguishable to what may normally be there, except to the group I am targeting.

When we put the word out on our Facebook page, Brett was one of the first people to let us know he would be willing to let us interview him. I have not had as much interaction with Brett as I have with some other collectors so interviews like this are really good to learn about collectors you may not be as familiar with!

GameWorn: What do you do for a living?
Brett Marciasini: I’m a Director for a diagnostic medical supply company, mostly doing HR and international sales.

GW: What is your favorite beer?
BM: Believe it or not, I’m 35 years old and have never tasted a beer. I don’t drink any alcohol. If I did, based on the answer to the next question, I would probably be a lush every April.

I recently had the opportunity to complete an email interview with VIncent.  He is one of the collectors that I know is avidly into photomatching.  We have worked together in the past to get some pieces matched with great success.  This interview definitely helped me get to know him better which is why I love these interviews.

Sean Broderick currently lives in Beavercreek, OH which is just south of Wright-Paterson Air Force Base, which is close to Dayton, OH.  Dayton, OH you say?  That’s where the Dayton Bombers used to play.  Well, funny you should mention that…

GameWorn:  What do you do for a living?
Sean Broderick: I work at the local Air Force Base as a cost analyst.  I am former Air Force officer and played at the Air Force Academy from 1997-2001. I was medically discharged from the Air Force in 2005 after I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.

GW: What is your favorite beer?
SB: Well, I can’t drink beer anymore because of my Crohn’s disease, but when I could, it was Fat Tire from Ft. Collins, Colorado.

Collector Interview: Derek Christensen

I first met Derek Christensen at the West Coast Game Worn Jersey Expo in San Jose.  My first impression of him was “Man, this guy is freaking awesome”… And then he convinced me to wear one of Pete’s Chicago Blackhawks game worn jerseys (after we asked permission of course) to the San Jose Sharks game where we enjoyed being visitor fans.

Since I met Derek, I knew quite a bit about him already prior to the interview, but this is your opportunity to learn about him:

GameWorn: You are a teacher.  Can you tell me a little bit about that?
Derek Christensen: Yes.  I have been teaching for 13 years.  I teach at a suburban Chicago school in Plainfield, which is the same town that I grew up in. I taught at my old school my first year, but the town has really grown and now I teach at Plainfield South, which was the second high school to open.  I teach Geography and AP Human Geography and this year I will be adding a section of Government, a topic that I taught when I first started, but haven’t taught in 6-7 years. I also founded and sponsor the community service club in which we organize events such as blood drives and teddy bear donation drives for the local children’s hospital.  We also do quite a bit for our
