Today I had the opportunity to attend the San Jose Sharks game while on my travels. On the concourse, the Sharks Foundation has a series of memorabilia available for auction. What I thought was the most fun with these auctions was during the 2nd intermission, the auction goes from a silent auction and ends as a live auction.
One of my favorite items up for auction was the pictured Hockey Fights Cancer warm-up jersey, customized to your specified name and number of your choice, with the exception of active players.
When we came to the booth during the 2nd intermission, the silent auction was at $650 for this unique opportunity. Once the live auction started, there was a heavy bid war that increased the bid to a closing price of $950. I had the opportunity to talk to the winner for a moment. Carrie Reid won the auction after a strong battle. While talking to her, she was texting her partner who she won the auction for, what she would like on the jersey. Carrie had told me that she had previously bid on the game worn practice jerseys but did not win any so this was a great opportunity to get one of these very limited jersey.
This was a very fun auction to witness, and a very unique prize of which I am very impressed it was offered. The Shark’s Hockey Fights Cancer warm-up jerseys are a great style and the Hockey Fights Cancer patch adds a great touch. Many of us have been affected by cancer in some manner in our lives, making this offer very exciting to see.
