On June 24th and 25th, the Toronto Marlies will be having a combined sale with the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Center.
There will be tons and tons of things for sale this year. The only items of notability that will not be available are Toronto Maple Leafs 15-16 jerseys.
Here is a sneak peak of a small portion of the equipment shipped in by the Marlies for the sale.
As we get more information, we will update this article.
Sometimes jerseys find their way in to collections because of the team, the player, or a milestone, but sometimes a jersey can be much more than that. This Scott Hannan jersey is one of those jerseys.
This jersey is a 2010-11 Red Set 2 jersey from the Washington Capitals. It was the last available 2010-11 Red Set 2 jersey left on Meigray. It was worn at the Verizon Center 2/8/10 – 4/13/11.
This information is a very important piece as to why this jersey is special. On March 11th, 2011, I was visiting my friend Matt in Washington DC where he lived at the time. I love hockey, Matt hated sports (except for World Cup Soccer). I just happened to look up the Washington Capitals schedule and see that they were playing at home, and I somehow managed to convince him to come. It is the only NHL game Matt ever attended.
Matt was murdered last week. I did not save my ticket stub, a program, or anything from that night. It seemed insignificant at the time. Matt and I watched this jersey on the ice for 19 minutes and 35 seconds that night. This jersey is more than just a jersey. This jersey is the strength of a friendship represented by the action of doing something you hate to spend time with someone you love.
In loving memory of Matthew Ryan Hanson.
The most important things in life are family and friends.

You may have noticed that while people are posting pictures of the jerseys they received from the Detroit Red Wings Equipment sale, that something looks a little off on some of the white ones.
If you reference pictures from the game, the patch was on the right of the player but you are seeing the patch on the opposite side of the jersey.
This is OK. Collectors are not moving patches, and these jerseys are not fakes. The Red Wings removed the patch after the game to continue to use the jersey for the rest of the season and re-affixed the patch back on for the sale.
As far as we know, this is consistent with every jersey that had a patch. No authenticity issues to worry about here.
We never anticipated that Game Worn Radio would have this long of a lifetime, but last year around this time, we did an episode on Team Equipment Sales. We are going to revisit this topic with this year’s info for Equipment Sales 2016.
If you have gone to a sale this year or plan on going to a sale (San Jose Sharks come to mind), then we want you on the show. Also, if you have any Q&A or just want to shoot the shit with the panel, feel free to join us Sunday, June 6th at 10PM Eastern.
