Collector Interview: John Mazzucca

image1 What do you do for a living?
John Mazzucca: My profession is in the medical field so right now I’m nurse aid in my local hospital.

GW: What is your favorite beer?
JM: That’s a tough one for me because it honestly depends on my mood and where I am. I usually just get regular beer but if I had to pick a favorite Heineken is a favorite of mine.

GW: What is your favorite team?
JM: Born and raised on Long Island so I have been New York Islanders fan since i was born.

GW: Who is your favorite player?
JM: Well this is an easy question since everybody knows who I collect since I’ve been following him for a while now. Cal Clutterbuck. I have alot of his stuff.

GW: When and how did you get started collecting?
JM: I started collecting in 2012 and progressed to bigger and better things. It’s definitely a hobby after getting into it was just addicting. I started off small with a Keith Aucoin isles jersey and now have upgraded to where i would want my collection to be. Cal Clutterbuck was pretty much high on my list when i started but couldn’t fund them then finally got going on them in the next year after.

GW: What makes up the bulk of your collection?
JM: Cal Clutterbuck is really the bulk of my collection but in the last few months I’ve been exploring other teams and doing pretty well with it. Definitely exploring more into the hobby of other teams but will continue to collect my one particular player. On a side note if anybody out there has a Minnesota wild white Clutterbuck send it my way please!

GW: If money was no issue, what is the one jersey you would want?
JM: This is a tough one for me but John Tavares would be a grail jersey for me.

GW: What is your favorite jersey in your collection?
JM: Well this is tough cause i have a few that are favorites in my collection but my absolute favorite is my off the back jersey Cal Clutterbuck from the 13-14 year. He scored a goal that night right in front of me which made the night a thousand times better and almost scored a second time and after meeting him that night he was such a class act.

GW: What is your favorite thing about the hobby?
JM: I have to say a lot of the people in this hobby make it so great. How many people and friends that I’ve made in this hobby now is one thing that’s very different from my actual life and it’s great.

GW: Do you go to or have you gone to any Expos/Shows?
JM: I haven’t made it to any shows or expos but I have been to the warehouse at Meigray a few times. I plan to attend some expos in the future.

GW: What would you like to see for the future of the hobby?
JM: I really really want to see this hobby break away from auctions and make a lot available to everyone. I feel like auctions sometimes to me ruin the hobby in a way because you see certain things go for stupid money and I’m just not into that. I would love to see almost every single team make their jerseys available to the hobby and certain rare teams that you don’t see often let some stuff out. I’m just more excited to see what does happen in the future

GW. Do you plan to attend the expo in Chicago in April?
JM: I will not be attending that expo but like I said earlier and my comments I plan to attend some expos in the future.
