During our summer program, we would like to continue our collector interviews to allow more collectors to introduce themselves and others to learn more about each other.

GameWorn.us: What do you do for a living?
Ed McEvoy: I Work for the US Dept. Of Veteran Affairs, I am an outreach specialist. I go into communities and to events seeking out combat Veterans, once contact is made I set them up for counseling services if needed and assist them with other benefits they may be entitled to.

GW: What is your favorite beer?
EM: Mexican Cake, by Westbrook Brewing Company (Mt. Pleasant South Carolina). Delicious Imperial Stout with a little heat from the Chile peppers they use.

GW: What is your favorite team?
EM: Born and bred Philadelphia Flyers fan, cut me open and you’ll see orange.

GW: Who is your favorite player?
EM: Ian Laperriere!! Ian played with so much heart and grit, a true warrior. Not only was he resilient, he gave back to the fans and was a favorite everywhere he played.

GW: When and how did you get started collecting?
EM: I was given a Derian Hatcher game used stick from the Flyers before deploying to my second tour in Iraq in 2004. When I returned from my 3rd and final tour in 2008 I started collecting game used sticks and helmets. I didn’t collect jerseys till I stumbled upon the GW Collectors Facebook page in 2012-13. I fell in love with it and ditched the sticks.

GW: What makes up the bulk of your collection?
EM: I was all over the place for a while, if I saw a deal I snagged it on impulse. Now I have a 100% Flyers GW collection. Keeping it Philly is the way it’s going to be from now on, unless I come across a deal I can’t refuse.

GW: If money was no issue, what is the one jersey you would want?
EM: Flyers Pelle Lindbergh or Bobby Clarke. I’d have a first born just to trade him for one of the two.

GW: What is your favorite jersey in your collection?
EM: Ian Laperriere Flyers 2009-2010 Road White. With Ian being one of my favorites and the jersey being from the year we made it to the SCF, it is hands down my favorite.  The fact that it was from the last season he played in the NHL makes it special also.

GW: What is your favorite thing about the hobby?
EM: The friends I have made, there are a handful of guys who I now call friends. Another thing is the thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction that comes with finding a jersey you have been looking for after months/years is quite rewarding,

GW: Do you go to or have you gone to any Expos/Shows?
EM: Made it to my first Meigray Expo last week, it was a great time. It was nice to finally meet so many people that I have interacted with though the GWJ FB pages and some I have done deals with. To be in the presence of so much history was truly amazing.

GW: What would you like to see for the future of the hobby?
EM: Fewer one game wonders.

Bonus questions:
GW: Are you coming to the expo in Chicago in April?
EM: Chicago is still up in the air for me. I intend on being there, with family and work I’ll have to make that decision closer to the event.

GW: What is your dream vacation?
EM:  I’m more of a staycation type of guy, but I would love to tour some of my favorite cigar companies tobacco fields and production facilities in The Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Cuba.
